The National Postal Museum

On July 15, 2013 we went to the National Postal Museum. We were going to go to the National Zoo, but ran out of time. I saw lots of postal stamps from all over the world. We saw priceless mail from the Titanic and burned pieces from the Hindenburg. There was an A to Z stamp wall that was really cool. We saw a cool fake forest that Ollie loved. We went through three times.

 So on our way to the Metro Della asked me to throw something away. I walked over there slowly, and I saw this guy staring into the garbage can. I threw the piece of paper away, and he reached in, grabbed a cup from the garbage can. Then he drank it! NASTY!

Later, near Woodley Park, there was a creepy lady who yelled at us for sitting down, and got mad at the bugs for being on her. She also talked to herself.

There was bump between two cars, and I found out why Della doesn't want to drive in D.C.

Jesse's brother, Chad, took us to dinner at french restaurant called Bistro Du Coin. I had steak that was great! I also had a banana split (I'm just livin' it up).

Monuments and Memorials on the National Mall

On July 13, 2013, we went to Washington D.C. to see monuments and memorials. We walked like a milk and a half. The bathrooms there were really nasty.

First we saw the Washington Monument. We looked at it from about 50 feet away because it was under construction. It had scaffolding on it. It didn't look so great.

Next we went to the Lincoln Memorial. There wasn't a lot to see except a statue of Lincoln, the Gettysburg Address on the wall, and a bunch of people.

At the Vietnam Memorial we saw names on a black, shiny wall. We saw somebody get a rubbing of a name. We also saw a statue with three guys in the army.

Also we saw a huge reflecting pool with lots of geese. You know what that means (geese poop). It was so bad, Della was gagging.

The World War Two Memorial had pillars for each state standing in a circle. There was a huge pool in the middle with a couple of fountains. I wanted to stick my feet in, but we didn't because Della said it was too hot, we were tired, and it was time to go home.

Then we went home and sat on our butts all evening to recover from all the walking.

Arlington National Cemetery

On July  13, 2013 we went to Arlington National Cemetery and visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Kennedy grave, and, last but not least, the Arlington House. my favorite part was the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

 During the Changing of the Guard the soldier checked his gun and that took a long time. After the changing of the guard they did a wreath ceremony. The wreath ceremony was cool because a soldier played Taps om the trumpet.

The Kennedy grave had Kennedy, his wife, and two children. There was an eternal flame that I liked a lot.

After, we went to the Arlington House, where Robert E Lee lived. He had four boys and three girls. There was a china set from Mount Vernon where George Washington's home was.

Gettysburg Adventure

On July seventh I went to Gettysburg. It was late when we got there so we didn’t go to the visitor’s center and museum. We did get to go to Round Top, the cemetery, and the battle field.

We went to a hill called Round Top. During the war a Union soldier found the hill and saw Confederate soldiers hiding on the ground. The Union soldier called others and told them to help him defend the hill top. I learned that one of the Union captains got shot in the shoulder and called for help. Someone went to help him, but was shot and died.

At Gettysburg we went to the cemetery where Abraham Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address. His speech lasted two minutes. It was only seven paragraphs long. In the cemetery there were lots of headstones. I saw a lot of fireflies.

Gettysburg was super fun. I would totally go again. Next time I hope we go to the visitor’s center, museum, and where we missed. 

Why Does Nebraska Have To Have SO MANY Cows?

This past week I have been on a road trip with Della, Oliver, and my uncle Than. We went through Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland. The reason we went was so I could visit Della, Jesse, and Oliver and go to national parks and museums.

What I saw on this road trip was big bridges and old brick houses .The ride was so uncomfortable. For me it felt like I was sick. I got multiple headaches, watched a lot of TV, and played on my iPod, DS, and the nook. It smelled like cow, poop, and other nasty stuff. In Wyoming and Ohio I went to a hotel. The best hotel was the last hotel. It had a nice bathroom, nice TV, and a nice bed .The best part was that it had an office chair. Both hotels where nice. We drove through Illinois and Indiana on our way to Ohio .We spent 20 minutes in West Virginia. The roads in Pennsylvania were bendy and had lots of hills. It felt like a roller coaster. I was so happy to get out of the car in Maryland.

On the fourth of July I went to John and Diane’s house in Oskaloosa, Iowa. We stayed for two nights. At their house we went to a very nice park. At the park we played on a huge wooden playground and a tiny zip line. At 10:30 a.m. we went to a Dutch bakery it had pillow puffs and doughnuts. I got two glazed doughnuts.  John has a Swedish car with everything from comfortable seats to awesome cup holders. John and Diane have a nice garden. We picked zucchini, and melons. John and Diane are very nice people and I loved staying at their home I would go again if I could.

 Now that the trip is over, I can say that I liked it. My favorite part was the rest stops. Next time I hope Oliver does not cry and scream so much. I would so do it again.

First Basketball game this year

It was my first basketball game Saturday, and at the beginning I made the first two points. In the middle I gave away two points. Aunt Min said I gave them away on a silver platter, but I say I gave it away on bronze platter. I know what you’re thinking… I shouldn’t give it away on any platter, but here’s the exciting part in all of this.

So there is about 12 seconds or 10 but at 6 I jumped up and grabbed the ball. About then there was 4 seconds and at 3 I threw the ball at 2 it hit the back of the glass and then it hit the supporters which it is no out of bounds and it went up and it came down and the buzzer went off and at the same time the ball came down and went in the basket. It didn’t count but it was AWSOME! And the place went crazy and that is my story.

One good day one disastrous afternoon

Yesterday was Sunday and I brought home the serpent cyclone. I haven’t played with it at home yet but I will. I also brought home a night navigator that helps me find star constellations when I am out and night, and a red robot that play’s games and talk and guards me.  All these thing came home from my Grandma, and Grandpa’s house.

Today was a good day at school, until… HE came in. So let me start from the beginning. So he walked in from the second grade. He got a stop and go from his teacher, so he groaned, and I say shhh... He groaned some more and I look at him, and guess what? He put the middle finger to me!! He says stupid teacher! I walked over to the teacher’s desk and told the teacher what he was doing. So he goes to the office and we bring his stuff to the office and he’s sitting there crying and begging the principle not to call his mom. They called her anyway. That’s the evil little one and that’s pretty much all.

If Della is listening… I mean reading, I want to hear Oliver sing the ABC’s, and twinkle twinkle little star, with gloves.
